I Walk Alone

With the framework for the Armageddon of Man firmly laid with the band’s 2007
full-length release, “Framing Armageddon – Something Wicked Part I”, ICED EARTH
are set to launch the next installment of Jon Schaffer’s “Something Wicked” saga
with the release of their new single, “I Walk Among You”, in June of 2008. The
full-length studio follow-up to “Something Wicked Part I” is due for release in
Fall of 2008. The new single and proceeding full-length studio album mark the
return of longtime frontman, Matt Barlow to the band who’s dark and sinister
tones are the perfect fit to narrate the intense and viscous annihilation of
mankind set in motion with the birth of the story’s main character, “Set
Abominae”, in “Something Wicked Part II.” The single will allow fans to get a
glimpse of the bright future for the band, and the perhaps not-so-bright future
for humanity as we now know it. The single will feature 3 songs, an exclusive
version of the song "I Walk Alone" and a few tracks from Framing Armageddon
(Something Wicked Part 1) with new vocal performances by Matt Barlow. Due to the
re-tracking of the lead vocals these tracks have been remixed and remastered.
There will be an iTunes exclusive version of the single "I Walk Among You" that
features "A Charge To Keep" which has also been re-sung by Matt, remixed and
re-mastered. The video for "I Walk Alone" is being filmed in early April. All
tracks were recorded at Jon Schaffer’s studio, Soaring Eagle Sound, and mixed
and mastered at Morrisound. The single, and following full-length platter will
be released by Steamhammer/SPV.

Dream Theater

Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name "Majesty" by John Myung, John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, before they dropped out to support the band. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remain today along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess.

Dream Theater has become a successful progressive rock band, despite the drop in popularity of the genre since the mid-1970s. Although the band has had a few successful hits (notably "Pull Me Under" in the early 1990s, which received extensive MTV rotation), they have mostly stayed underground for their career.

The band is well known for the technical proficiency of its instrumentalists, who have won many awards from music instruction magazines. Dream Theater's members have collaborated with many other notable musicians. Guitarist John Petrucci has been named as the third player on the G3 tour six times, more than any other invited guitarist, following in the footsteps of Eric Johnson, Robert Fripp, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

The band's highest selling album is the gold selling Images and Words (1992), which reached #61 on the Billboard 200 charts.[1] Both the 1994 release Awake and their 2002 release Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence also entered the charts at #32 and #46 respectively and received mostly positive reviews. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence also led to Dream Theater becoming the initial band reviewed in the Music Section of Entertainment Weekly during its opening week of release, despite the magazine generally preferring more mainstream music. In 2007, Systematic Chaos entered US Billboard 200 at #19.[1] Dream Theater has sold over two million albums in the U.S.,[2] and over 8 million albums and DVDs worldwide.[3] Dream Theater are currently working on their 10th Studio Album which is currently untitled. It is set for release in 2009 with a World Tour to follow

Hindsight (2008)

Yeah

Some of the people don’t like it , but I think that’s one of the nice band is Anathema

Anathema are an English band from the city of Liverpool, which, together with Paradise Lost

and My Dying Bride, helped to develop the death/doom sound, a subgenre of doom metal. However, their album Eternity was a departure from doom and metal, and signaled their transition to atmospheric rock.

After 5 years no stadium album I think maybe this album was not the best but is best enough

Hindsight is an acoustic studio album by British atmospheric rock band Anathema consisting of the band's classic songs plus one new song, "Unchained (Tales Of The Unexpected)". The former title for the album was Temporary Peace but it was later changed to Hindsight[2]. This album also features cello playing of Dave Wesling from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. A close friend of the band, Dave previously toured with the band in 2004 and is featured on the DVD A Moment in Time. The record was arranged, recorded, performed and produced solely by the band. Kscope label launched a Hindsight mini-site, available in three languages: English, Italian and French, from where the song "Fragile Dreams" can be downloaded for free in MP3 format if signing to a mailing list. The mini-site also contains streaming previews of "Inner Silence", "Are you there?" and "Angelica"

Stone Sour is a three time Grammy-nominated American hard rock band based in Des Moines, IA, United States. The band was founded by Corey Taylor, vocalist of Slipknot, and former drummer Joel Ekman

Early Days

Stone Sour was originally formed in 1992 by Peter Larracas and drummer Joel Ekman. Taylor's long time friend, Shawn Economaki, joined shortly after, and filled in as the bass player. The band had played clubs and bars with various different guitarists - often filling the position for just one show. This time, Stone Sour recorded 2 demo tapes, in 1992 and 1994. Shortly after, in 1995, James Root - who is now also part of Slipknot with Taylor - joined the band. The group was complete, and in 1996 recorded another demo tape, and songs from which would later be used in 2002 on their self titled debut album, Stone Sour. The band was named after an alcoholic drink that consists of one part whiskey, one part orange juice, with a splash of sour mix.
In 1997 the band went on hiatus when Taylor and Root spent most of their time with Slipknot, who were another up-and-coming act in Des Moines at the time who were to soon earn a record deal. Root also joined the band a year later, and Economaki went on to become their stage manager. Ekman stayed in Des Moines, and formed a family.

Amon Amarth is a Viking-themed melodic death metal band from Tumba, Sweden founded in 1992.[2] It is named after Mount Doom; a location in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. The name means "Mountain of Fate" in Sindarin, one of Tolkien's Elvish languages. Currently under Metal Blade Records, the group has released seven studio albums, one EP, one DVD and five music videos as of 2008.

History

Formed under the name Scum in 1988, the band was originally a grindcore group formed by Themgoroth (Dark Funeral), Olavi (guitar) and Ted (bass guitar). When Johan joined the band, it resulted in a musical change towards death metal. After a 1991 demo, they changed the band's name to Amon Amarth in 1992. After they became Amon Amarth, they released a demo recording, The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter, in 1994, selling all 1000 demo discs in less than 12 hours.[citation needed] This demo brought them to sign at Pulverised Records, on which they released in 1996 their first MCD Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds, from which they sold 6000 copies (spread throughout four different versions)[3]. This release brought them to sign with Metal Blade Records. With the release of the album Once Sent from the Golden Hall in 1998, their popularity rose internationally and since has meant multiple Canadian tours, US tours, festival appearances, five music videos, and appearances in over 100 metal magazines.[4] In early January 2008, their first tour of Australia and New Zealand took place, along with supporting Dimmu Borgir on tour in Europe. They finished a US and Canadian tour with Sonic Syndicate and Himsa beforehand. Decapitated was scheduled to appear on tour with Amon Amarth but cancelled when their drummer, Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka, passed away on November 2nd in a Russian hospital due to injuries he sustained from a recent road collision. The group has gradually gained further exposure including Richard Christy on The Howard Stern Show mentioning his attendance at one of their concerts.

The February 2008 edition of Terrorizer magazine confirmed that the band is working on a new album due for a late summer release.[5][citation needed] Amon Amarth also extended their record deal with Metal Blade Records for three more albums.[6]

The title of the new album by Amon Amarth is Twilight of the Thunder God, to be released on September 17, 2008 for Finland and Sweden. It will feature guest appearances by Lars Göran Petrov of Entombed, Roope Latvala of Children of Bodom, and the cello metal band Apocalyptica. Along with the release of the album will be an eight-page comic strip based on Norse mythology which will be released by magazines from all over Europe.
Amon Amarth has embarked on a North American headlining tour in October 2008, with support from Ensiferum, Belphegor, and a melodic death metal band from Tampa named The Absence.[7] The band are also currently touring as support for the well known band Slayer throughout Europe in the Unholy alliance Chapter 3.

Musical style and lyrical themes

The four Swedish and one Finnish musician, who are known for their synchronised headbanging in music videos and at live performances, base most of their songs on Norse mythology, the Viking Age, and the pre-christian world. This mythology is an element that originally emerged as an ideological off-shoot of black metal known as Viking metal in the early 1990s, made popular by such bands as Bathory and Enslaved, although the band's sound is more in the vein of early Amorphis and mid-period Bolt Thrower. Lead singer Johan Hegg's sister sometimes contributes lyrics for the band.

It's the name of "Mount Doom" in Sindarin, whatever that is - ask a Tolkien fan. But I think it's cool and really symbolizes what Amon Amarth stands for. “

I can't imagine the viking’s [sic] veer into metal at all except on the swords and stuff. And musically, I guess they only played these strange lip instruments and some bongos or whatever.”

Godgory

Godgory is a Swedish melodic death metal band that was formed August 1992 by Erik Andersson (Drums) and Matte Andersson (Vocals) of no relation.

Formation

In the beginning Godgory only played covers from bands like Napalm Death, Entombed, Cemetary, Unleashed and Grave. It wasn't until April 1994 they entered the Unisound studio and recorded their debut demo entitled "Demo-94".
They sent out the demo to labels and zines around the world and the response was very good. One label wanted to sign Godgory for a full length CD, so they went to Unisound again in November 1994 and recorded "Sea of dreams", they recorded it over a weekend with much overtime. The deal with that label went up in smoke, so Godgory was left with a full length CD recorded and no label. They decided to send out the tape to labels and ask them if they want to release the album. Invasion Records from Germany wanted to release Godgory's CD and signed them for one more album. These things took some time, which is why "Sea of dreams" wasn't released until January 1996.
"Sea of dreams" received very good reviews in magazines around the world and has sold about 5000 copies. Godgory wanted to prove that they could do a better album, so in October 1996 they went to Unisound again and recorded "Shadow's dance". This time they had a sixth member, Thomas Heder on keyboard, and they spent 3 weeks in the studio and recorded every instrument one by one and not live like they did on "Sea of dreams". Shadow's dance also received very good reviews and ended up on the 7th place on Rockhards Dynamite list. Shadow's dance has sold about 10,000 copies.

New line up

After Godgory had recorded "Shadow's dance", Erik and Matte thought it was better to let 3 of the members go from Godgory: Mikael Dahlqvist Guitar, Fredric Danielsson Bass, and Thomas Heder Keyboard. They were involved in another band to which they gave first priority. Erik and Matte wanted members that could concentrate on Godgory 100% and things can easily crash with each other if there is another band to do things with. Stefan Grundel (formerly Olsson) rhythm guitarist left Godgory to concentrate on his education. So now it was only the Erik and Matte left, with no contract and no members. Godgory had heard that Nuclear Blast were interested in them, so they phoned them up and asked if they still were interested, lucky for Godgory they were. Godgory signed with Nuclear Blast. In May 1998 Godgory recorded one new song for the Nuclear Blast sampler "Beauty in darkness vol 3", the song entitled "Conspiracy of silence". They recorded in studio "Fasaden" which is 80 kilometres from Godgory's hometown Karlstad. Since Godgory had no members they asked their former members Mikael Dahlqvist (Guitar) and Thomas Heder (Keyboard) if they had time to help them in the studio, they accepted and did a great work. Godgory decided to use that studio for their third album "Resurrection" so in October 1998 they went to studio "Fasaden" again and spent 5 weeks in the studio. Mikael and Thomas was session musicians also this time. Godgory also invited Fredrik Olsson as a reciter, since he has written many lyrics for Godgory, they thought it could be cool to let him do all the whispering and Matte handled the growl parts. It worked out excellent. "Resurrection" was released in May-99 and received good reviews from Mags around the world and it also ended up at number 8 on the Rockhard Dynamite list.
After the successfully Resurrection, Godgory decided to take some time of to concentrate and feel where they wanted to go with their music. The whole album was written in six months and pre produced in a home studio, and then directly after that Godgory entered studio Fredman. Godgory were really looking forward to enter such great and famous studio, with the excellent producer Fredrik Nordström.
